Adoption Application

Adoption FAQs

Our adoption team often gets many questions in regard to the adoption process. We thought it would be helpful to post some of our most commonly asked questions in order to help you understand our adoption process. If you have a question that is not specifically addressed below, please email our adoption coordinator at rogers_rescues@yahoo.com.

1. Can I meet the dog before submitting an application?
No.  However, you may be able to meet the dog if you attend one of our adoption days or events.  The dog of your interest may or may not be in attendance at the event.

2. Is there any other way to submit an application other than online?
No, the Rogers’ application must be filled out online.

3. How much is the adoption fee?
$250 for dogs 7 years of age and under.  $100 for dogs over 7 years.

4. How long does the application process take?
The adoption process is different for every application, so there is no “standard” time.  The application process can go very quickly if we receive your references.  We do not process applications unless we receive at least one reference for an applicant.

5. Where should the references listed on my application send in their information?
The reference should be sent to rr_refcheck@yahoo.com.

6. Do I need to provide vetting information if my former pet is deceased?
No. We only require vetting information on the pets currently residing with the applicant.

7. Do you require an applicant to have a fenced yard?
No.  Every dog is different and has specific needs.  Some dogs may require a fenced yard, but that is contingent upon the dog.  Please be sure to read through the information provided on Petfinder to make sure that the dog you are applying for will be a match for your home.

8. The dog I applied for is no longer on Petfinder.  Does this mean that it is no longer available?
Not necessarily.  Once we have received one or two good applications on a dog, the dog is removed from Petfinder so as not to generate too many applications.

9. What happens if the dog I applied for is already adopted?
If the dog you applied for is already adopted by the time you complete the application process, you have the option of joining our preapproved mailing list.  This list includes all of the people who have completed the adoption application process.  We send out notifications twice a week if any new dogs have arrived in the rescue.  These dogs are available for adoption only to members of our preapproved group.  However, expressing interest in a dog does not guarantee that you will get to adopt the dog.  You and the foster home need to talk, and you need to meet the dog in person in order to decide if the dog is actually a good match for your home.
