Abigail & Her New Family
Abigail is doing wonderful! She is the love of our lives. The transition to our home was amazing. Janet made it so easy. The fostering of these dogs really answers any questions ahead of time. We kept in touch with Janet for a while to update her. Abby (which we now call her) took over our home in about 2 days! She is such a joy. My 2 children adore her and she is great with them. Abby actually sleeps under the covers with us at night and still prefers to go in her crate if we are out during the day. In about a year, I will be coming back to Rogers' Rescues for a companion for Abby.
Thanks again for all that you do!

Amber's New Family
Uma (Amber) is doing GREAT! She is an incredibly affectionate and loving dog that I just can't help but snuggle every chance I get-- she gives the BEST hugs ever. She and her brother Gus get along so well, they are truly best buds. Her training went very well too and she is the most incredible dog to take on long walks-- she's just so smart. We adore Umie and Gus so much and couldn't imagine our lives without them! |

Annie & Her New Family
Annie is wonderful! She is the sweetest dog and such a love. She does have a tendency to counter-surf (but only when someone leaves things out!) I have to remind Joe when he gets mad at her for stealing food off the counter that she's a dog and he had better not yell at her because if he didn't leave it out she wouldn't eat it!
I guess you can see who's queen in our house. She really is great, and we couldn't be happier. She loves everyone and everyone loves Annie. She is a very well-behaved dog.
Thanks for writing,
Joan and Joe |

Bessie & Her New Family
Lucy (formerly Bessie) is doing very well, getting lots of love and giving lots, too. She weighs about 23 lbs., and is busy eating bugs, digging holes, sometimes catching a mouse or a bird outside (can you hear us all scream "Lucy, NO!"). Lucy loves to play (my husband is her favorite playmate), snuggle and sleep. Her nose gets her into lots of trouble.... She is very friendly and thinks that everyone who comes to our house is here to visit her and is a new friend. Although, when she is in the backyard, she believes that our property extends quite a bit further and is not happy when some people (and dogs) pass by!! All in all Lucy is doing well. We had the chip put in at Banfield (her vet) during the summer, as an extra precaution in case she gets lost, besides her tags. She is doing very well, very healthy and happy. |

Blue's New Family
Blue is doing great! He was only about six months old (but already house trained) when we brought him home. He was very sweet and goofy, and now he is sweet and smart. He has a ferocious bark and a meek disposition, which is a wonderful combination. He does not wander and keeps our daughter company when she plays outside. He and Zoe (adopted in February 2005) have been pals since day one and love playing together. We love our Rogers Rescues dogs! Thank you for all you do! |

Bojangles & His New Family
Mr. Bojangles is doing wonderfully! I socialize him with other dogs and my kids often play with him as well. He is absolutely the best dog I have ever owned!! I would love to adopt another dog if only I knew that the two of them would get along fabulously like he does with other dogs!
Mr. Bojangles is such a sweetheart! He's come out of his shell much more. When we adopted him he was very timid and fearful. Now he loves company and everybody that meets him absolutely loves him.
Thanks so much to Rogers’ Rescues; we have the best dog ever!

Caleb's New Family
Hi, Caleb, or Joey, which is what I call him, is doing great. May was a year since he's been here and he settled in pretty quickly. He and Bailey (my 8-year old golden, also a rescue) play like they've been together forever. He has had run of the house almost since the first month. At night, he sleeps on my bed or in another bedroom he's claimed as his own. We just started agility training to give him a little more confidence and to make him more comfortable with strange dogs. When I'm home, he's by my side. Even now, he's sleeping on the bed next to the computer. He's very sweet and he's the best watch dog I ever had. No one gets near our house unnoticed by Joey. He's a great advertisement for Rogers' Rescues. My aide adopted Polly last year after meeting Joey and hearing about Rogers' Rescues through us.

Charlie & Brother Beau
Charlie is doing great! I love him to death! As we speak, he and his “brother” Beau are snoozing on the couch next to me – they had a fun evening at our local dog park and are all pooped out...Char is just the sweetest, funniest, goof-ball boy in the world – and he follows me everywhere (including the bathroom) and is a complete snuggle bug. He and Beau are just like human brothers – they wrestle, play fight, and tease and taunt each other with toys and bones, but every night they make sure that they are touching each other (and me) when we go to sleep each night – and I usually wake up hanging off the bed while the two of them are stretched out.
When I first got Char home, he used to eat a bowl of food in two choking gulps…he was obviously used to having his food eaten by other dogs if he wasn’t fast enough – now I can put two bowls of food out in the morning, and most of the time it is still there when I get home. When he does eat, he eats like a normal dog. He feels safe.
We have seen Charlie’s foster mom, Jacky, several times at adoption events – we try to stop by from time to time to say hi, and we have actually been to her house a couple of times for post-adoption get-togethers. She’s the best!
So please keep doing what you do – you guys do great work, and have helped to bring a lot of love and happiness to everyone in this house, both human and canine. I tell everyone I know to rescue a dog!

Chipper and Family
Taz (Chipper) is great. He has visited with his foster mother, Jennifer, often. In fact I have also contacted and sent current photos of Taz to his prior owner who surrendered him, Rosemary. She in turn sent me Taz's baby photos from when he was 2 months old.
Taz is 79 lbs now and a big strapping lad. Beth and I take Taz and Mosey to dog obedience classes. They both are great at it. So much, that last week the teacher asked us if the dogs had any prior training!
Thank you for the update...

Clancy & Lily with their New Family
Clancy and Lily are awesome! They have been a tremendous addition to our home!
They are both very healthy and happy. We installed an electric fence a few months ago. We used to think they might be a little cruel but that could not be further from the truth. They get to roam our 1/2 acre property and, aside from a few early missteps, don't even go near the boundaries anymore. They love it and so do we! They play together (well, Lily plays with Clancy...not the other way around) and the neighbors, and their dogs, all know and love our dogs. They regularly drop by and play with C&L. It's not uncommon for us to go outside and see Lily frolicking with a neighbor's dog while Clancy usually is resting in the grass (he's not much for playing).
They are the greatest and thank you so much for your outstanding organization!

Emma & Family
First let me start off by saying that I love this dog to death! She is my pride and joy!
I believe when she was rescued, she was at least 40 pounds underweight.....well not to worry, she is up to at least a good 110 pounds and looks healthy.
I come home and she is waiting anxiously to greet me. I look at her and she always has a big fat smile on her face that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I watch her sleeping and think to myself that I am so glad she "hit the lottery" and now has the life of a queen! She is so spoiled rotten by everyone in the household!
Thank you Rogers' Rescues for giving us the opportunity of providing Miss Emma Lou her forever home!

Goliath's New Family
Goliath (aka Sampson) is the best boy a mom & family could ever have!!! Sammy-Boy (as our 5 yr. old calls him) has such a special personality, understated and refined most of the time yet rambunctious and goofy when the mood strikes him - which happens more in the cooler weather! Nothing puts more joy in our hearts than seeing Sammy-Boy run around with a big smile on his face while alternately shaking a stuffed toy to death!
He is happy leaning his big head against us for ear scratchies, kisses (us to him - he is much too refined to kiss humans!), and neck rubs (my husband is jealous!). He loves his routine of early morning walkies with Dad and a long evening walk with Mom; he spends his days patrolling the porch and surveying his kingdom (we leave the door open for him - flies be damned!), reflecting on which neighbors always have bonies for him and which ones just pet him, and barking at an occasional car which he knows he is not allowed to do so he regulates himself by running to the door to come in, before we can correct him and tell him to come in he just takes care of correcting himself - what more can we ask for - he really is the perfect dog. Of course our neighbors within earshot love Sammy and said if it makes him happy just let him bark at every car if he wants to - but again - he is too refined to bark at every car!
He enjoys his daily visits with his aunts, Wendy and Peyton, and sometimes enjoys an evening walk with them forming what the neighbors fondly refer to as the dog brigade: one elderly beagle, one young, full of piss and vinegar beagle, and one very refined Great Pyrenees parading through the streets with the smallest human (my 5 yr old) holding the leash of the biggest dog!
His health is good, with some adjustments to his medications, and he is rightly referred to as the miracle dog by his cardiologist!!! My husband's favorite line is "I love this dog, he takes more heart medicine than I do!" of course I don't have the heart to tell my husband that some of those medications are the exact same as what he takes!!! Anyway the point is that they have this weird heart patient bond between them, our cardiac dog with his cardiac master!
On a more serious note, I can not imagine any other dog would have been able to heal our wounded hearts after tragically losing our Swiss Mountain Dog the way Sampson has - he is a gift for which we will always be grateful!
Fondly - Susan, Jim, Sampson, Anna, Jack, & Ava |

Humphrey's New Family
Humphrey is absolutely wonderful. We live in NYC and there is not a day we take him out for a walk that we don’t hear the question, “What kind of mix is he? He’s so cute (odd, short, funny).” He has a low energy level which makes him a great city dog, and loves to sniff up old chicken bones and any other garbage the city has dredged up that day. His favorite thing is to go to the dog run, he adores other animals and cries when they don’t want to play. He loves being around children, especially my nieces, and curls up every night with us on our bed. In short, he is the perfect dog and we are very lucky to have him! Thanks again…

Jillie is doing wonderful! She is a completely different dog then when she first got home with me. We had some trying moments in the beginning, but she has blossomed into a great dog. We have really built up her confidence and she is pretty friendly with everyone, especially kids! I could not be happier. We have fun playing in the yard and she loves to swim and we just got a kitten a few months ago and the two of them chase each other around all night. She still smiles when she is really excited or when she knows she has done something bad!! My mom's dog actually smiles now too, it's really funny.

Jolene & Her New Family
Jolene (known to us as Chloe) is doing well. She gets along well with our 2 Maine Coon cats, Komet and Jasmine. Though she takes exception if they get too close to her food bowl or her toys. She gives a bark and away they go!
She is very smart. She picks up on words that we make no effort to teach her. Like the word "walk" for example. We took her for a walk twice and by the third night when she heard "walk" in a converstion she became excited.
She enjoys the walks, having her belly rubbed, getting dog biscuits and greenies, and she especially loves her green beans. Our vet suggested we give her some green beans in lieu of the same amount of dog food to help her lose weight. She absolutely loves them. She goes crazy when we mention green beans and she even learned our code word for them.
Chloe also loves spending time with us. She hangs out with us and we usually move over on the sofa to make room for her. She has a basket of toys and she likes to take the toys out one at a time, until they are scattered in the family room. She loves when we give her attention;she can't get enough of it. She is very sweet and we are happy that she came to live with us.
Tony, Rose, and Alisha
PS Chloe also has an assortment of collars and leashes. Alisha and I believe that a dog has to look good and be in style. We even have rhinestone charms for one of the collars. Looking good!!!! |

Jolie's New Family
Jolie, who we named Stella, is doing fine. She is adored by small children. My four year old niece likes Stella (Stewa) better than anyone in the house. Every month at the end of a bag of dog food, we tip it over and she heads right in to get any remaining crumbs. Apparently she is not claustrophobic. The first time she did it was pretty startling as we only saw the dog food bag moving on the floor like there was a really big mouse trapped inside.
We now have a 7 month old son who cannot resist petting her when she is in range. She actually comes over to him to let him pet her, so she either likes the "abuse" or can't resist any attention - even from a child who doesn't know which direction to pet her fur.

Kody's New Family
Hi, Just a little update on Kody. He graduated from Petsmart obedience training which included two, 8-week courses. He still needs work on leash walking since he loves to run, smell all the things ahead and not miss all the bunnies along the way. He has fit into our home so well. While in the house, he is very calm, quiet and reserved but anyone who walks down the street outside our house, he's ready to guard. Of course, our other dog, Christie, urges him on. And speaking of Christie, they absolutely are perfect for each other. They play together so well and Kody is not the push over we thought he would be. You can definitely tell that he has herding instincts. He tries to nip at Christie's heels all the time and herd her around the yard.
We are very satisfied with our adoption process and this rescue. I have recommended the rescue to many people. Thank you for caring so much for God's little creatures that bring us such great joy each day.
Thanks,
Eileen and Andrea |

Kylie's New Family
Kylie is doing very well she has adjusted very nicely to the family. We moved this summer to a bigger house with a lot bigger of a yard for the dogs to run around in. 3 weeks ago we adopted a puppy from the local animal shelter. All the dogs have been great with her (Cookie Lynn) and VERY tolerant of her puppy energy. Kylie takes care of Cookie like it is her baby. |

Leroy & His New Family
Leroy is doing just fine. We started out in an apartment and just this May I bought my first house. Now he has a nice fenced yard to run around in, although he doesn’t like to walk in the wet grass because his feet get wet. He is probably the MOST affectionate dog that I’ve ever had. He’s getting along great with his brothers Ted and Casper. He even has a new sister since May, a cat named Blue. He loves the cat. He tried chasing her the first day, but has been great since then. They even sleep next to each other. Leroy has been on vacation with me too. We’ve gone to Illinois to see my friends and also to Clearwater, Florida. He’s even been swimming in the Gulf of Mexico! He likes to go hiking at Bushkill Falls too!

Lucky & His New Family
Happy to report that "TOBY" previously known as Lucky is such a big part of our lives. He has filled a void for me and my husband that I never though would be filled after our terrier Oliver died a few months before......the love and happiness he brings to us is amazing and I am so glad that he found us........my little 4 y.o. and Toby play all the time and he even brought a picture of "his" Toby to show and tell in pre-school. He is everything that his foster mom described and I was so glad that that kind of information about him was available. He is a wonderful addition to our household, he is very funny and he loves to run and play in the backyard..........ice cream is his favorite as are his stuffed animals. We are so happy that Toby has made our lives whole again and we just love him to pieces........he has found his "forever home" and will be with us always........we are proud to be a part of the Rogers family and will adopt again.

Maddie's New Family
Maddie is doing wonderful. She is absolutely the best dog that we have ever had. She still gets a little skittish when we open a trash bag, but with a say of her name she quickly starts wagging her tail and is fine. When we first got her she was afraid of everything..........she has come A LONG WAY. She was afraid to go in the lake at our friends’ house now you can't keep her out. She loves jumping off the dock and swimming with the dogs there. She loves sleeping on the couch and is a real cuddle bug. I think she doesn't realize how big she is sometimes. (I think she thinks she's a lap dog) She was truly a great addition to our family. We take her for walks in the woods (our family has over 200 acres) behind our house, she loves running through the woods and jumping in the stream. |

Mary has been renamed "Molly" and she has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is doing great and I think she loves us as much as we love her. She had been sick and was a little underweight when we got her but we've over done it in the other direction a little bit and are now watching her diet and are helping her loose a few pounds. Molly is our first pet and she has successfully turned us into "dog people". We are very glad that we chose to rescue her too - I can't think of a better way to find the perfect pet! We also can't imagine our family life without our Molly.

Keep doing such a great job! We truly appreciate the match!

Muffin & Family
Muffin (or Muffy as we call her) is doing just dandy. She plays with our other dogs - Mickey (Jack Russell) and Roxy (Pembroke Corgi). She's the biggest of the three, but they all seem to play well together. Well, most times. She loves to sit on our deck and watch the squirrels in the back yard. She doesn't like thunder though, and we will find her behind the bed when we have a thunderstorm. With time, we're hoping she learns that thunder will not harm her. One of her favorite things is to ride in the car to my parent’s house about 2 miles away. She loves to visit and is very social. However, she's a grump when she's tired. Quite often she plays possum when we want her to move when she's sleeping, and with nudging she will move, but not happily. |

Nikki is a wonderful addition to the family. She is extremely smart and very well behaved. Since the time I adopted her, my family circumstances changed. Nikki now has a 10 and 13 year to keep her busy. Her and the kids are constantly together if not playing, Nikki is sharing a bed with them, the kids and her are best of friends -- I really don't think that a dog or family could be any happier with each other.

Patty's New Family
Patty, now Gracie, is doing great!! When we first got her she was very fearful of men and very skittish. She is still apprehensive of anything or anyone she has not seen before, but quickly gets past her fears. She is playful and obedient and just so sweet. She was fairly easy to housetrain and learned the invisible fence in about 2 minutes. Gracie is very athletic and loves to run. She is also quite the hunter and loves to chase the squirrels. She loves water and has been in creeks, lakes, ponds and the ocean.
Our other dog is a very dominant Lakeland terrier about a third of Gracie's size and they get along well. Mostly because Gracie is submissive and takes Katey's constant reminders of who is THE BOSS in stride.
I can't say enough positive things about Gracie. If she didn't shed, she would be the PERFECT dog!!
We love her so much and are grateful for the work you do at Rogers’ Rescues.
Thank you for saving Gracie

Pixie & Her New Family
It's so nice for you to follow up with us. Pixi is doing great! We are so in love with her. She just loves sitting on the couch and going to bed in our bed each night. It took me 10 years to say yes to my kids for owning a dog and she is just the perfect dog for me and my family. We can't imagine our lives without her. She loves to go on car rides and visit family. She goes on a walk everyday with my daughter and her two friends and their dogs. It's like a play date for dogs everyday after school.
She is so much fun. She has such a routine it’s amazing. Just this week, she got into the kitchen garbage and the coffee grinds were on my white couch. I scolded her but then you look at that cute face and say 'oh she is just a dog and didn't know what she was doing". So now we will be keeping a bungee cord on the cabinet to protect the garbage.
When ever we hear of someone who wants a dog, we tell them that we strongly recommend rescuing one from Rogers Rescue. Your organization is wonderful. Everyone has been so kind and helpful.
All our best,

Rianna & Her New Family
Rianna is great. She is a joy to have. Rianna will be turning two on November 13th. She is definitely part of our family. When the kids get on the bus, we take a 2 1/2 mile walk in the morning and maybe another one in the afternoon. My husband takes her on runs on the weekends. The kids enjoy her immensely. She plays with her toys and sleeps with my husband and me. She is another member of our family. When we are playing a game she will sit right with us as if she is playing as well. We found out that she is not fond of school buses or UPS trucks but that is the beagle in her. She is one spoiled little girl and we would not have it any other way. Thanks so much for your interest in her.

Rochelle & Her New Family
We changed the dog's name to Gina-short for Regina. My daughter takes Italian and Regina means queen in Italian. Within a day of having her, we knew Gina was the queen of this house!
She is great - a wonderful addition to our family. I never thought I could love an animal as much as I do her, and I think we all feel that way about her. Everyone who meets her, falls for her. Anyhow, she is doing well. She went for her annual checkup in August and the vet says she's fine.
She comes everywhere with us - she's a great traveler! We're all hoping that she lives a good long life so she can be part of our family for many years! Thanks for asking about her. Rogers' Rescues is fantastic!

Rosie & Family
Brisca (formally Rosie) is doing well. We had a fence put in our back yard for her 1st birthday this past July, so now she has more freedom to run around. She is also a great "big sister," as Geoff and I had a little girl in April. Brisca is wonderful with Sophie. We wouldn't be a complete family without Brisca. We are so happy we found her :-) Thanks to Rogers Rescues for helping Brisca find her way to us. |

Rupert's New Family
Rupert is a joy. We love him and so does our little Rachael. They get along great and spend a lot of the day just playing and racing through my house. They are a wonderful and perfect match. Both a blend of terriers with a lot of energy. My once treasured sofa is now theirs...............
He has such a great personality and everyone loves him. He has grown to about 25 lbs and he is always loving and wants to sit in your lap and give kisses. Once the kisses are done, he loves ears for some unknown reason, he’s off and running again. I take him to a groomer in town and she just thinks he is the cutest thing and so much fun to watch. She has two pups of her own and they get along just great with my two. Rachael is a little reluctant at first if they come to our house, but once there, they are just running and running.
The local clinic just opened a doggy meet and greet park at their clinic on Tuesdays. We are taking both the pups so they can meet some other pups to play with. I know they will both be tired after all that.
I still review the dogs on the emails I get. Who knows, we may be in the market for another someday. I never was crazy about dogs, then I got Rachael and now Rupert. They are so pampered by both Brandon and I. |

Sadie with her New Family
/13/05
We changed Sadie's name to Sedona when we adopted her. I'm happy to say we have no issues to resolve as Sedona quickly became part of the family without a hitch. She loves her daily walks to the park, fenced in back yard, car rides and enjoys playing with a tennis ball and fluffy tug toy.
Our large front bay window in which we used to have flowers and pictures has become her throne...but we don't mind at all. It seems Sedona has been part of our family for a very long time, but it's only been 1 1/2 years.
My husband, two sons and I can't believe we were so lucky to find a fantastic dog from a rescue. We are constantly stopped wherever we take her and told what a beautiful dog she is. Of course we always bring up the point that she was a rescue dog... to most people's amazement.

She is such a happy dog, and is always so eager to go for a walk. She wants to meet everyone we pass, and is especially interested in greeting every dog. Because of her exuberance, we did take a basic obedience class last fall so we could learn the best way to teach her simple commands, and to walk nicely on a leash.
Sasha is so smart and eager to learn. We still have trouble keeping her calm when we see or approach other dogs, but we are working on that.
We are moving next month to a condo in Portland, OR. We are not concerned about Sasha in the condo. She rarely barks and we walk her several times a day so she will not miss having a yard. Portland is a great walking city, and a great dog city.
As you can see, Sasha is much-loved. She has a wonderful personality and we can't imagine life without her. Thanks again to RR for all the great work you folks do. |

Sheba & Her New Family
We've renamed her "Liebe" (rhymes with Sheba). She's been great. Shedding her summer coat right now. She's very settled in.

Smokey's New Family
Smokey is doing well. The first year was spent getting to know us and acclimating. It took a good 3 months for him to come out of his shell. He seemed very suspicious. I used to call him our living stuffed animal because he just laid around and was pretty non-interactive. He enjoys being around us and has learned to trust us.
Smokey, this summer, came alive even more. He became very attentive to us. He loves to be near us and loves pets to his chest and face. He'll even roll onto his back for us to pet his chest. At first he was very leery of us touching his face, but loves it now.
Overall, adopting Smokey has been a very good experience and we would adopt again if the situation ever arose.

Sophie & Her New Family
Hi! Sophie (now Freya, since our other dog is named Sophie) is doing quite well. I work with Jacky and give her frequent updates. Freya is obsessed with her ball (I’ve never seen such focus on a toy!), loves when our 6 year old neighbor comes over to play with her, and lives for belly rubs! She plays with Sophie every day, and it's particularly funny because Sophie is a Schipperke, and about half of Freya's size. But Freya lets her 'win' a lot since Sophie is the alpha dog! It's hard to believe it's been a year and half since we brought Freya home! We couldn't be happier. And I'd like to think she couldn't be happier either! :-) |

Spanky & His Family
Spanky is doing great! We're getting ready to head south to Jensen Beach, FL on Nov. 1 for two months or so, and he really likes the warm weather better than our chilly mornings in PA! He has adjusted beautifully to his sibling chi's and also the kitties that we had when he joined our family. We've adopted another kitty, named Stirling and that brings our family of 3 chi's, 3 kitties, and 2 parrots to a full house! They all go south with us and it's a bit of a job transporting them, but they are so worth it.

Winnie & Her New Family
Winnie is doing great. We love her to pieces. She had about eight sessions of training in the early spring which helped all of us. She still barks at strangers, but I think it is her terrier nature. She is loving and fun. She loves her walks.

Winnie and Family
Hi, well here she is, Miss Winnie!
She’s doing great, getting older and wider. We’ve had her on a decreasing diet now for months, she's not losing much though, she ballooned right after we got her, doc says it isn’t her thyroid. she just loves to eat. But she’s the queen here, she has a greyhound named Ty and a yellow lab named Stryker to keep her on her toes. Oh also the 3 cats! Yea we love our pets! I failed to mention the 2 rats and 3 gecko lizards... Anyway thanks for inquiring, I'm happy to hear that you guys follow up on your adoptions, I haven't heard a word from the original greyhound rescue I got Ty from. But he's a happy boy too so there’s no big deal.
Every once in a while I check out the web site to see what you guys have been up to and the lucky pups that you find homes for.
