    Adopted!

Ellie is finally home!  Ellie was adopted by a wonderful family and now has the attention of 4 people, including 2 "brothers"!  Reports from her new home is that she is adjusting very well and is just the apple of everyone's eye who she meets!  She has been rescued one final time and now is safely in a home, which itself is another miracle, considering just 5 weeks ago, her fate was certainly uncertain.  From the crowded shelter that took her in despite no room, to all the drivers that got her from KY to NJ, to all the wonderful people that donated to help her get better and sent best wishes, to all the Rogers' Rescues folks that cared for Ellie, and now to her new family .. WOW ... a heartfelt thank you.  The rescue community is really one special group of people.  And Ellie will vouch for that!

    Home At Last!

Ellie came home after 5 days of intense care.  YEAH!!  Thank you to the all the wonderful folks at Animal Emergency and Referral Associates in Fairfield, NJ who took such great care of her.  She is soooooo much better!!

Energy level is back to 100% puppy and her breathing is stellar.  She'll continue antibiotics and go for a recheck on her left lung in a week or so.  She is enjoying playing with all the other dogs in her foster home and is glad to be back to being a happy, healthy puppy!  Rogers' Rescues couldn't have done it without the outpouring of support for Ellie.

Thank you to everyone who was a part of Ellie's New Year's miracle.  It truly is now a Happy New Year!

    Almost Home!!

We thought Ellie might come home today, but xrays showed some issue still with the frontal lobe of one of her lungs. However, she is breathing comfortably and reports are she is active and feisty! To be cautious, the doctors want to keep her one more day and assuming no surprises, Miss Ellie will be back in her foster home late tomorrow afternoon. Just one more day Ellie! Hang in there!

    Ellie is a fighter!

Today the doctors tried Ellie out of the oxygen cage and so far, she is holding her own!  They will keep her on IV at least another 2 days and if she continues to improve, she may come home Monday!  The outpouring of support for Ellie has been truly AMAZING.  Thank you to everyone who has donated and sent good thoughts for a little black pup they have never even met.  Ellie wishes all of you angels a Happy New Year!

Ellie is doing well today, New Years Day!

She is in an oxygen cage and receiving IV fluids and antibiotics.  Today she is much more alert and is doling out kisses to the vet techs!  They did try her off the oxygen for a bit, but her breathing got heavy and so she is back in the oxygen cage.  We saw her this afternoon briefly and I must say, her eyes are much brighter today, she's eating like a champ and was sooooo happy to see us.  The doctors are pleased with her progress and we all are hoping she continues to slowly improve!  She's not out of the woods yet, but she is certainly on the right track.  Go Go Miss Ellie!!
