Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: The camaraderie and the friends we have made through the rescue, both with fellow volunteers and adopters. Also seeing the dogs come off the van at transport, the gratitude and joy in their eyes as they realize they are in good hands and truly safe, and then following their journey to their forever home. Everyone involved in each and every aspect of the rescue and the adoption process truly does make a difference!

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: I have formed great friendships with the people in this group who share my passion for saving animals. The dogs themselves are my inspiration. I am amazed at their resilience, their ability to look to the future with enthusiasm instead of dwelling on what may have happened to them in the past. Their willingness to forgive even though they have every right not to and their ever trusting friendship with humans because they believe there is good in all people. They have taught me how to be a better person.

Current roles: Foster home & transport set-up team. Occasionally drive for transport and help wherever needed.
Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: I just love seeing the way our fosters transform from scared, tired & hungry dogs into confident & happy pups that are ready for adoption to loving homes. Rogers' is a fantastic group effort, every hand helping another. An added bonus is all of the great new friends I've made.
Unfortunately, our dear volunteer Dee recently passed from us. To learn more about her and see our tribute to her, visit this page.

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: Flexibility! There are times that we are VERY involved with every aspect of the Rogers’ organization and when “life” has needed tending to, been able to step away and return when things calm down again!!! The second favorite thing has been ending up with dogs in our home that we wouldn’t have necessarily “picked” but they have ended up being the best, most loveable and most memorable fosters – fostering has REALLY opened our eyes.

Joined:April, 2010
Current roles: Foster home, occasional transport driver, transport clean-up crew member, and writer of thank you letters to donators.
Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: Witnessing a dog go from "death row" to beloved member of the family, and the knowledge that, regardless how I contributed (phone interview, home visit, foster home, transport driver), I was part of the process. The satisfaction of seeing an adoption day photograph is overwhelming. Also the tremendous dedication, inspiration and support of my fellow volunteers.

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: I joined when my mom adopted 2 wonderful beagles from Rogers' Rescues. Wendy and Peyton brought such joy to the whole family. I said during my volunteer interview that I wanted to make that feeling happen for other families. Although an active volunteer, I actually only started fostering in 2010. Fostering is only a part of what we do. If you have ever thought of volunteering for a dog rescue, this is the one. We make families complete 1 dog at a time. That feeling the day we brought Wendy and Peyton home is still going strong for me even after 6 years.

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: The friends we have made; helping helpless dogs that have found themselves in shelters through no fault of their own...seeing the "thank you" in their eyes when they know they have been rescued.

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: Nothing is better than the excitement of meeting a new foster dog, and knowing they'll have a good life-regardless of the experiences they've had up till that point. The people in rescue...the dogs we're lucky enough to get to know...everyone working for the same goal...indescribably satisfying.

Current roles: Vetting and meds coordinator, phone interviewer, transport driver (I LOVE TRANSPORTS!) home visits, officer, resident "poopologist" and author of MANY super long drawn out posts to the group!
Favorite thing: I can't say there is just one! Although I am not a foster home, every job with the rescue, whether it be phone interviews, attending adoption events, or just spreading the word about Rogers' and rescue, it is all just as important in helping the dogs find their forever homes! I love being a part of making a difference in so many lives! I truly feel that volunteering with Rogers' has fulfilled my life in so many ways, and I am so proud to be part of such an amazing group of fellow animals lovers!

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: I love to give a helpless dog a chance at a new life, a taste of what's to come. Helping people and dogs find happiness together. The shear joy from adoptive families, knowing the dogs will be forever safe, and starting the process all over again with another deserving soul.

Favorite thing about being a Rogers' volunteer: There are many wonderful reasons to be a member of Rogers' Rescues. I love the dogs. The initial sad look in their eyes that slowly turns to pure joy and happiness as they realize they are safe and warm. I love all the dogs and families we have brought together over the years. I also love the flexibility, being able to do as much or as little as every day life allows.
